Description
Reporting to the Chief Health & Wellness Officer and Executive Director of Student Health Services, the Assistant Director of the Student Health Center is responsible for the leadership and delivery of health and wellness care, as well as educational programs offered to a community of more than 10,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary with team-oriented leadership and clinical skills in a well-established, and strongly supported campus health program. The Assistant Director will support the mission, vision, and goals of a responsive wellness program in a dynamic university setting. This position requires availability to work late evenings and/or occasional weekends as needed. This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, provides day to day oversight of the Student Health Center, including resolution of clinical and administrative issues, while collaborating and escalating as appropriate.
- Provides supervision, support, and direction to the Student Health Services team, including multiple direct and indirect reports.
- Manages the tracking and review of processes that Student Health Services provides consultation for including student parking permits, immunization exemptions, clinical verifications, and immunization compliance and tracking.
- Working with the Associate Director of Operations and the Executive Director, organizes and plans annual flu clinics and other programs.
- Assists with the development of evidence based clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures, and clinical decision support tools.
- Serves as a “super user” for Electronic Medical Records and ensures team members are trained in its use.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Student Health Center team, develops and implements initiatives to improve care delivery, patient and staff satisfaction, and the overall view of Student Health on campus.
- Reviews outstanding clinical documentation, referrals, pending results, and related follow up items to ensure accuracy and completion.
- Ensures follow up and resolution of clinical concerns for selected patients, as needed.
- Manages the care coordination work group and related meetings.
- Represents Student Health Services at meetings, seminars and events involving both on campus and community partners as well as students and families.
- Communicates effectively with a diverse team, both orally and in writing to facilitate care.
- Provides value driven customer directed clinical care while supporting staff and student needs.
- Facilitates continuous performance improvement using data driven protocols and feedback from the community at large.
- Designates available time to the provision of teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice.
- Assists in integrated models of primary‐behavioral and acute care, including those associated with educational initiatives.
- Engages with colleagues throughout the university and community at large to identify and respond to the needs of the Hofstra community and advocate for student health and wellness on campus.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing health care delivery and assure timely assessment and filing of all regulatory documents.
- Engages in lifelong professional knowledge, skill development and diversity, while continuously supporting administrative, clinical, and academic operations with standards of accreditation.
- Maintains close partnerships with other offices within Hofstra University as well as with faculty to address practices related to health care, emergency management, environmental issues, public health, and regulatory requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
