    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Assistant Director for Student Success will assist the schools in providing a positive impact of student learning through enhancing teacher practices by leading students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences for each individual student in the district  

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate. 
    • Valid State of Arizona Admin Certificate preferred 
    • Five (5) years special education teaching experience
    • Demonstrated knowledge of foundational research on best practices
    • Has a depth of knowledge of special education procedures, laws, and graduation requirements.  
    • Positive leadership skills
    • Understanding/knowledge of different modes of data collection (formative and summative)
    • Understanding/knowledge of methods for classroom data collection and analysis
    • Ability to facilitate collaboration amongst adults
    • Ability to immediately identify components of instruction and factors that are beneficial to student learning while observing instruction
    • Consistent demonstration of effective instruction at the high school level
    • Demonstrated skills in proactive problem solving 
    • Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

     

    Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following: 

    • Supports the Strategic Plan of Casa Grande Union High School District.
    • Plans and implements a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the district curriculum. 
    • Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.
    • Review’s teachers learning logs weekly to ensure commitment to AZ state Standards and the districts’ curriculum maps
    • Uses quarterly benchmark data to support student academic improvement and teacher performance
    • Supports site and district strategic plans.
    • Ensures all teacher certifications are valid and submitted to Human Resources.
    • Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents. 
    • Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance from district specialists as required. 
    • Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
    • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior. 
    • Develops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner. 
    • Creates educational experiences that provide each student with the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of person-social adjustment, decision making, positive self-image and other life skills.
    • Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations and administrative procedures. 
    • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner. 
    • Meets with teachers, parents, and students when concerns and issues arise, then keeps site administration informed as issues rise to their levels.
    • Supports and partners for Open Houses, Curriculum nights, School showcases 
    • Supports master schedule planning and teacher assignments 
    • Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school sponsored activities. 
    • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor, and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments. 
    • Maintains punctual and regular attendance. 
    • Demonstrates the ability to perform duties under stress while interacting with students, parents, peers, and the general public. 
    • Maintains professional confidentiality at all times. 

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salary recommendations.
    • Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results.
    • Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to assure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce.
