Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced, talented, and dynamic individual to join our highly successful and progressive schools. The role of the 3-5 principal is to guide students, staff, parents and community partners toward a common mission of the overall success of the school. The 3-5 principal will oversee academic progress and ensure teachers are equipped with all resources necessary to meet the goals of the school. The 3-5 principal will serve as the instructional leader of all educational programs and ensure that the mission of growing middle school ready students is carried out.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The principal reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. Leadership and collaboration are key components of this position. This includes all aspects of supervision, administration and management of the building.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Arkansas Educator License
• Valid Arkansas Building Level Administrative License or qualifies for Additional Licensure Plan approved by DESE
• At least 3 years of K-12 classroom experience
• Master's Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 3 years experience in teaching grades 3-5
• At least 3 years experience in a building level administrative position
• Experience as an instructional facilitator, assistant principal, or principal
• Advanced degrees in relevant field

CONTRACT length is 240 days. The employee is paid for 240 regular work days and also in a contract extension for hours worked outside of the regular work day.

• Promotes and maintains a culture of learning for students and personnel
• Establishes rules, procedures and discipline to support classroom management
• Supports a culture of high expectations for student achievement, behavior and development
• Establishes and maintains high expectations for faculty and staff commitment to the processes of teaching and learning
• Leads and supports programs, PLCs, leadership teams, curriculum, instruction, professional learning, assessments and accountability
• Leads students, faculty and staff in fulfilling the mission and vision of the school
• Deals with personnel including teachers, instructional assistants, support staff and others
• Oversee the implementation of the district curriculum
• Student and learning focused
• A natural teacher and leader
• Possesses a visionary, growth mindset and a positive attitude
• A facilitator of learning and team building; capable of effectively presenting and leading in the school setting
• Focused on building relationships with students, parents and staff
• Knowledge of 3-5 master schedule building and building management in general
• Skillful in technology skills, communication skills, collaboration skills, interpersonal skills, facilitation, teaching, time management, planning and organization
• Ability to use good judgment in making decisions; discerning
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
