Assistant Pharmacy Director assists department head in daily duties and assumes responsibility in his/her absence. Oversees pharmacists and provides pharmacy services. Being an Assistant Pharmacy Director compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals. Typically requires a master's degree in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy. Additionally, Assistant Pharmacy Director requires state Pharmacist License. Typically reports to top management. The Assistant Pharmacy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Assistant Pharmacy Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • This is a full time Director of Pharmacy, responsible for the daily operations of all Pharmacy services and staff at Oro Valley Hospital.

    As an organization leader, this position shares accountability for facilitating organizational and department goals using effective leadership knowledge, skills and abilities that ensure achievement of expected results for patient/customer service, employee engagement, financial health, business growth and quality and safety outcomes.

    Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital's pharmacy services. Maintains contact with other department heads, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes and promote effective drug therapy. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

    Education

    Required: Master's degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from accredited college of pharmacy.

    Experience

    Required: Completion of ASHP accredited pharmacy residency. Ten (10) years pharmacist experience, including two (2) years as director/manager of community hospital pharmacy.

    Licences/Certifications

    Required: Current pharmacy license from the state of Arizona. American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS and ACLS.
