POSITION PURPOSE
The Assistant Controller is responsible for implementing and executing the fiscal functions of the company under the direction of the Controller. This position provides performance measurement information and financial reporting to the strategic leadership team of the company[s]. The position may also manage accounting team members to execute long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. The Assistant Controller may also provide coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting processes of the company[s].

Essential Functions
Ensure company’s fiscal functions and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) under the direction of the Controller.
Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial budgets, reports, statements, and trends in order to assist the executive management team in performing their responsibilities.
Help implement and enforce policies and procedures for the company.
Maintain relations with external auditors and review recommendations.
Monitor the cash-flow process.
Maintain banking relationships.
Ensure appropriate internal control safeguards are being enforced.
Collaborate with other managers to provide consultative support for planning initiatives through financial management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
Oversee tax, corporate registration and business license compliance for applicable states.
Ensure that sales and use tax compliance is current for all applicable taxing entities.
Provide leadership and support to accounting team members- from interview to hiring to training and appraisal.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Review and manage financial software.
Review departmental budgets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or finance; master’s degree is preferred.
CPA is preferred.
Minimum of five years’ experience as a controller, finance manager, or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license required.
