Job Description:
Summary:
Assists with coaching duties, operating under NCAA bylaws. Assists the head coach with recruitment and training for athletic competition, and participates in the overall coordination of the program as appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.

Assists in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the men's and women's Track program, in accordance with and NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.

Represents the needs of various health care and community coalitions to local and state governments, institutions of higher education, health care organizations, community groups, prospective funding agencies, and the media.

Serves as principal point of liaison for specified national and/or international health promotion networks or agencies: collaborates with internal and external constituencies in the strategic planning of international health promotion programs.

Provides guidance and assistance to student-athletes on a range of personal issues, as required.

Leads, monitors, and coordinates training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.

Provides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to lower level assistant coaches on coaching practices and techniques.

Provides assistance in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required.

Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to the media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Bachelor's degree

At least three (3) years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable team or individual SPOl1S and playing rules

Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules

Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling

Knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Organizing and coordinating skills

Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty

Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Conditions of Employment:
- Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position

Maybe subjected to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects, standing and/or walking for extended periods of times during rush and busy hours of the semester

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
