Assistant Campus Recreation Director administers and promotes all non-varsity, club (intramural) sports and wellness program. Plans and organizes campus-wide recreational programs for all students, faculty, and staff. Being an Assistant Campus Recreation Director may supervise student staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Assistant Campus Recreation Director typically reports to Campus Recreation Director. The Assistant Campus Recreation Director supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Purpose of position: Assist in fulfilling CSU Mission, Vision and Goals. Provide student with opportunity to receive experience related to educational or career objective. Prepare future graduate with integrity who are critical thinkers, skillful communicators and effective collaborators positioned to perform responsible roles in society.
Duties: The following duties are needed for this position and they are intended to provide students with experience related to their educational and/or career objective: Recreation Facility Assistant must be highly knowledgeable of all Brewer Center policies and procedures.
The Recreation Assistant will verify current ID of CSU student, faculty or staff member.
As a fundamental duty, the Recreation Facility Assistant will monitor all participants and guests as they enter and exit the facility.
The Recreation Facility Assistant will split time at the front desk and the weight room ensuring the building is running efficiently.
Recreation Facility Assistant assists in the safety, supervision, and set-up of free play equipment in all recreation areas.
As a Recreation Facility Assistant, assertiveness and customer service play key roles in the overall effectiveness of the position.
Ensuring the cleanliness of all rooms in the facility including weightroom, lounge, cardio room, and basketball gym
Rate of pay (Pay Scale Guide):
$8/Hour paid on the 15th of the month following the month when the work was
performed (e.g. work performed in June, is paid on July 15)

Schedule: If offered work study employment, supervisors will coordinate work hours based on student’s class schedule. Students are not permitted to work during chapel or during regularly scheduled class time (even if the class is cancelled for some reason).
Evaluation Procedures: Students will be evaluated on their work performance which includes their ability to follow instructions and to complete work without errors. Students are expected to be punctual and to contact their supervisor if they will be late or unable to come to work. Cell phones should be placed on silent while in the workplace and students should only use their cell phones in emergency situations.
