    Description

    The Recreation Services Assistant (RSA) ensures that Green Valley Recreation facilities are open, ready for use, and closed down for the membership. The role of the RSA is to prepare centers for events, classes, and reservations across the Green Valley Recreation campus. Working independently or as part of a team, The RSA will perform on-site facility checks to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all GVR members and their guests and support employees and members in day-to-day recreational activities and functions.

    Our Recreation Service Assistants are always on the move, from one center set-up to the next. This position is perfect for an active individual who enjoys acts of service. There is not a typical day for an RSA, as every day will bring different interactions and reservations. This role involves traveling between our 15 recreation centers, setting up and taking down events (tables and chairs), cleaning and upkeep the center, and engaging with the members (consistent rounds, offering assistance as needed, and maintaining a friendly atmosphere). And even though most of the job requires moving around, there is some need to be on a computer so knowledge in this area is necessary.

    We’re open seven days a week. Full-time employees work Monday Friday. Part-time employees are typically scheduled on Saturday and Sunday while occasionally covering holidays and shifts during the week. Our on-call employees cover shifts for both part-time and full-time RSAs. Our shifts are 5 am-1:30 pm or 1:00 pm-9:30 pm.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Interact with members in a friendly and upbeat manner while listening to and addressing any questions or concerns.
    • Maintain a visible presence around the assigned center(s), remaining available for questions and assistance.
    • Become familiar with current GVR classes, events, and activities, encouraging and recommending suitable offerings to members and guests.
    • Conduct walk-throughs of each room/amenity at the facility to identify and correct any safety concerns or policy violations.
    • Where static set-ups are not used, set up, tear down, and relocate materials and equipment, such as tables and chairs, for member games and activities.
    • Inspect/ ensure that static set-ups are returned to the original diagram set-up.
    • Communicate, as directed, with members and staff regarding set-ups and maintain room set-up binders.
    • Set up sound and visuals as needed for special events or meetings.
    • Assist members with self-service options on the Kiosks.
    • Complete incident reports for all member accidents, illnesses, and behavioral issues and submit them to the Supervisor.
    • Understand, abide by, and promote GVR policies and procedures.
    • Verify the membership status of facility users by checking membership, guest, and tenant cards.
    • Monitor center cleanliness, clean up spills or empty trash as needed, fingerprints on glass, etc.

    Qualifications Qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Must obtain and maintain current CPR AED certification within 30 days of employment.
    • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license and employment contingent on a satisfactory MV report.

    • Must be able to read, write, and be fluent in the English language.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with others, in person and via telephone.

    • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
    • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, communicate proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational goals.
    • Knowledge of GVR operations, services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
    • Knowledge of fitness equipment is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and apply decision-making skills.
    • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet.
