    Salary: $100,572-$111,014 DOE. Rates given are per 2023-2024 Salary Schedule and will be adjusted with a cost of living increase as Board approved.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Assists in the leadership, management and administration of the school to include supervision, instruction, and the overall positive development of students.
    • Administers and coordinates interscholastic athletics and activity programs to include, but not limited to: sports, music, speech and debate, theatre, and clubs.
    • Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary and as assigned.
    • Maintains appropriate information about students and compiles necessary records.
    • Collects and analyzes data as assigned by the site administrator.
    • Communicates and establishes positive relationships with parents, students, staff and public.
    • Assists with explanation and interpretation of school programs, policies, procedures, and laws to students, parents/guardians, staff and the community.
    • Participates in policy and procedural decisions relevant to student issues.
    • Participates in activities of the school that include parents/guardians, staff, students and the public.
    • Supervises and evaluates both certified and classified staff members as designated by the principal in accordance with the supervision model of the school district and in accordance with the negotiated agreements of various employee groups.
    • Maintains instructional leadership expertise in the growth and development of the high school teaching staff.
    • Plans, maintains, and executes the day to day operations of the activities program regarding facilities, officials, workers, travel arrangements, and financial operations.
    • Coordinates the use of the building spaces using Google calendar.
    • Maintains activity and coaches handbooks to reflect current district, state, and Montana High School Association policy and procedures.
    • Develops, administers and interprets student and family surveys regarding the activities program.
    • Develops and maintains a framework of communication and public relations for both parents and athletes, that includes web pages, newsletters, and email.
    • Participates as a member of the school booster club.
    • Works as a team member within the district leadership and management structure and supports decisions made by administration in an effort to maintain positive staff morale.
    • Provides for the general welfare of all students and handles individual and group problems of student behavior and discipline at contests.
    • Plans and executes the use of building and District facilities for all activities.
    • Provides leadership in the recruitment and hiring of qualified staff for all teaching, coaching and leadership positions within the activities program and school.
    • Develops and articulates athletic and activity programs from middle school through 9-12, including camps, clinics, school visits and mentoring opportunities.
    • Supervises coaches and volunteers. Provides leadership and consistency in the process of evaluation for all personnel in the activities program.
    • Develops and administers staff development programs in the area of activities coaching and management.
    • Develops activities program policies and guidelines which meet established district educational goals, priorities, and objectives.
    • Develops and administers the district activities program budget and provides leadership in the maintenance and transactions of the building extra-curricular activities accounts.
    • Ensures that all activity programs function equitably and as prescribed.
    • Develops all interscholastic games schedules and coordinates those schedules with other building activities and other schools for the calendar year.
    • Maintains records of the activities department, such as participation, scheduling, financial, etc.
    • Advises and administers all district and school eligibility rules according to the Montana High School Association.
    • Manages and promotes scheduled post season tournaments and meets.
    • Acts as a liaison for the activities department with the Board, “AA” schools, booster and parent advisory groups, and community organizations as deemed necessary.
    • Promotes equitable publicity for all activities and manages news releases and public information regarding the operation of the activities department.
    • Interprets Board policy to the extent necessary to provide guidance for the school and personnel involved in the activities program.
    • Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, maintenance and grounds and other support services as assigned, in the area of extracurricular activities.
    • Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
    • Administers the student insurance program and extracurricular fees collection program as applicable.
    • Leads coaches and directors in the requisition of supplies and equipment, maintenance of inventories, proper spending procedures for goods, and maintains a system of records for activity programs.
    • Coordinates the supervision of all phases of the student activity program.
    • Adheres to school policies relative to student due process and other appropriate student services policies.
    • Performs other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal and the District Superintendent.

    • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, parents/guardians, and the public.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents/guardians and the public.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field.
    • Ability to write reports, school correspondence, manuals or other relevant information.
    • Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
    • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
    • Ability to meet a high standard of policies and protocol.
    • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to follow directions and multi-task.
    • Skill in organization to provide effective and efficient administration.
    • Skill, dedication, and aptitude for recognizing the development needs of high school students.
    • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work within the Google suite to include: docs, slides, sheets, calendar etc.
    • Skill and aptitude in the use of computers, software and current technology.
    • Knowledge of state and local policies and laws that refer to student discipline and education.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master degree in education or relevant subject, AND,
    • Valid Montana Administrator’s certification with appropriate administrative endorsements; AND,
    • Minimum of five years of teaching experience or equivalent certified experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience as a head coach, director or administrative experience.
    • Experience in secondary teaching
    • Experience in school activities management
    • Experience working with and applying the Montana High School Association rules.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
