Assembly Supervisor supervises a manufacturing production line that assembles fabricated parts. Creates daily work schedules, follows standard manufacturing procedures, and monitors work to meet product specifications and production targets. Being an Assembly Supervisor resolves production problems and answers workers' questions about processes, methods, or equipment. Delivers training for new processes or equipment and onboard new employees. Additionally, Assembly Supervisor conducts quality testing on completed assemblies to validate tolerances and product specifications. Reviews daily assembly production records to identify trends or potential performance issues. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Assembly Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Assembly Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Summary/objective:

     

    Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Assembly Production Supervisor works with and coordinates the activities of the employees on his/her shift to meet repair targets.  This includes assisting with all material supply and any other operational areas as needed while performing their respective job duties.

     

    Essential Functions/Accountabilities:

    • Oversee the plant manufacturing process /processes with the production facility and setting standards to ensure on-time production and quality objectives are met.
    • Ensure department specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and make plans to meet requirements set forth by the master plan.
    • Understand production goals and drive for results focused on meeting production forecast and ensuring budgeted labor is within plan.
    • Responsible for facility requirements; security, machine performance, and safe work environment
    • Provide on-the-job training for department employees.
    • Schedule and prioritize work to be performed by department.
    • Inspect jobs to ensure work is being done correctly.
    • Instruct and monitor production assemblers work practices and conformance with procedures.
    • Conduct employee performance reviews for departmental personnel.
    • Use of precision measuring devices, Calipers, Micrometers, inside Micrometer gages to determine mechanical condition.
    • Install, bearings, seals, and other components, referring to work instructions, blueprints or service manuals as required.
    • Assemble, align and or adjust parts to close tolerances.
    • Record and maintain all applicable QA/repair documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Daily use of assembly tools and overhead cranes.
    • Assist other shop personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by operations management.
    • All other duties as assigned by management.

     

    Competencies:

    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools.
    • Comfortable with operating computers.
    • Willing to work overtime, weekdays, and or weekends to meet customer service requirements.
    • Prior experience in a position of responsibility managing people, time and work assignments preferably in a manufacturing environment.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position is responsible for supervising all assembly employees.

     

    Work environment:

    • This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.

     

    Physical Demands:

    • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing at times. 
    • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. 
    • Daily use of PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed safety shoes, respirator, face shield.

     

    Required education and experience:

    • High school diploma, plus five years’ experience in a motor repair shop and one year of supervisory experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Associate degree in supervision or related field or equivalent experience
    • Prior experience in a position of responsibility managing personnel, time, and work assignments, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with rigging and lifting heavy loads, and operating overhead cranes.
    • Forklift operation experience.

     

    Location: This position will start out in our Appleton facility then move to our Hortonville facility in the fall.
