Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Art Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Nevada Museum of Art (Museum) seeks a Designer who is a highly creative, engaged, responsive, versatile and strategic design professional who possesses exceptional visual design and typographic skills along with advanced problem-solving capabilities. The Designer will build upon a history of elevated scholarship and creative work produced by the Museum by instilling design-centric thinking into the daily workflow and creative processes. The Designer is an integral member of the Communications Department, working closely with internal and external Creative Directors on a wide range of projects including but not limited to the ongoing maturation of the visual identity, design supporting exhibitions and programs, publications, website and digital initiatives, marketing and social media assets, and online publishing platforms. The position will advance the role of design at the Museum as the organization continues to expand its reach to national and international audiences, and to build and sustain public interest, awareness, and support for its mission. The Designer will continually strengthen the brand and voice of the Museum. The position reports to the COO/Deputy Director.
The Museum’s award-winning visual identity and publications have been recognized by I.D. Magazine, Communication Arts, and Print Magazine, as well as being a four-time recipient of the Frances Smyth-Ravenel Prize for Excellence in Publication Design awarded by the American Alliance of Museums.
