Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Art Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     SUMMARY

    The role of Executive Assistant/Gift Shop Manager at the Salina Art Center is a dynamic and multifaceted part-time position that combines administrative support with the oversight of our gift shop and galleries, all while creating welcoming experiences for our community and customers. This position is at the forefront of fulfilling our mission and offers significant hands-on responsibility.


    RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY FUNCTIONS

    As the Executive Assistant/Gift Shop Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping the visitor experience and supporting the overall mission of the Salina Art Center. Your core responsibilities will include:

    • Providing administrative support to the Executive Director.
    • Managing day-to-day operations of the gift shop and galleries.
    • Ensuring exceptional customer service and sales experiences.
    • Coordinating and executing events and special programs.
    • Maintaining accurate records and inventory management.
    • Collaborating with staff and volunteers to enhance visitor engagement.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    We are seeking candidates who embody professionalism in every aspect of customer service, possess exceptional time management and organizational skills, and excel in verbal and written communication. Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are crucial, as is a genuine passion for arts and cultural programming. While prior experience in customer service, sales, and event planning is preferred, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are equally valued.


    Proficiency in Microsoft and Google suite applications is essential, and experience with point-of-sale systems is desirable but not required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working during public hours, including one weekend per month and occasional evenings for special events or board meetings. The typical work schedule would be Wednesday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekend hours on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Weekly hours may range from 21 to 32 hours, depending on after-hours events.
