Art Director directs and develops the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Director leads the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Townsville is a small art studio located in Milwaukee's Third Ward that specializes in wall decor of cityscapes, school campuses, skylines, and landmarks. The artist Josh Seubert has been creating these unique illustrations since 2016 and showcasing them at festivals around the midwest and gift shops around the country. We also have a consistently busy online presence with orders needing to be filled and shipped every day. We currently have two amazing employees and are looking to add a third to help juggle the busy upcoming year. Despite always having quite a bit to accomplish daily, we manage to have fun at the studio listening to music, occasional movies/games.
This job is always changing!. Mostly this is a 9-5 hourly position however there are shows during the summer on the weekends that require different hours and a little bit of travel. Commission will be earned at shows and in the studio retail space. Weekend availability is a must especially during the summer. The ability to be on your feet much of the day is needed. You will need to be able to lift boxes up to 30lbs. You will need your own reliable transportation to and from work in Third Ward Milwaukee!
Day to day activities at the studio include framing and prepping other types of print orders, packaging and shipping orders, making magnets, organizational tasks, and computer work. A typical show day would include picking up all the materials for the show, driving there, setting up the booth, running the booth (customer service, restocking prints, organizing bins), taking down booth, dropping materials off.
