Art Director directs and develops the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Director leads the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Stays current on latest trends. Additionally, Art Director develops a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Art Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Art Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Overview:

    The Art Teacher at Bellarmine Preparatory School is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in art to students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic and moral development of students. The Art Teacher will possess a deep understanding of various art forms, a commitment to fostering creativity, and the ability to integrate artistic expression with broader educational goals. The teacher should embody the values and principles of Jesuit education, emphasizing the Ignatian philosophy of cura personalis (care for the whole person) and the Jesuit commitment to academic excellence, service, and justice.

    Core Functions and Duties:

    • Curriculum Development:
      • Design and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with educational standards and the Jesuit values.
      • Integrate art history, theory, and practical skills to provide a well-rounded art education
      • Instruction and Classroom Management:

      • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles.
    • Assessment and Feedback:
      • Evaluate student performance through assessments, projects, and examinations.
      • Use formative assessment to inform instruction and help students self-assess their progress and summative assessments.
      • Assessments designed with the professional learning community.
      • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, helping them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Student Support:
      • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and understanding.
      • Provide additional support and guidance to students who may need assistance with art studies.
      • Collaborate with student support programs including counselors, tutors, and testing center to implement early intervention and promote acceleration.
      • Mentor and advise students interested in pursuing further studies or careers in the arts.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in Art Education or a related field.
    • Teaching certification or relevant education credentials.
    • Previous teaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
    • Strong knowledge of various art forms, art history, and contemporary art practices.
    • Familiarity with Jesuit education principles and a commitment to Bellarmine’s mission.

    Compensation:

    • Salary is determined using the Faculty Pay Scale, based on education level and years of experience (scale ranges from BA, Tier 1: $53,585 to MA 90 or Ph.D., Tier 25 : $102,617 - for full-time position).
