Art Director Assistant assists the Art Director with all phases of design projects to ensure successful project completion. Monitors work through all stages of pre-production and production and facilitates solutions to any issues that may arise. Being an Art Director Assistant reviews the work of videographers, photographers, designers, and graphic artists. Requires knowledge of typography, layout, color, and visual communication. Additionally, Art Director Assistant requires a bachelor's degree of art or design. Typically reports to Art Director. The Art Director Assistant gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Assistant Professor of Art (Tenure Track)
The Department of Art and Design at Maryville College, a selective four-year liberal arts college committed to superior teaching, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as an Art generalist with a primary faculty specialization in 2-D arts (painting, drawing, photography, illustration, etc.) beginning in August 2024.
Qualified candidates will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and prior successful college-level teaching experience. A terminal degree (an M.F.A. or Ph.D.) in art from an accredited institution is required. Interest in program development is a plus. Applications by members of all underrepresented groups are encouraged.
Teaching responsibilities include introductory, intermediate, and advanced studio courses primarily in 2-D art, as well as supervision of internships, independent studies, and senior projects. Additional expertise in another area of art and/or the ability to teach introductory art history surveys is strongly desired. The successful candidate will also oversee and supervise all aspects of the studio spaces related to their 2-D specialization. All Maryville College faculty are expected to teach in the College’s core curriculum. Maryville College is recognized in the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification and is committed to outreach to local, national, and global communities. We are seeking candidates who are passionate in contributing to Maryville College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
