Art Director Assistant assists the Art Director with all phases of design projects to ensure successful project completion. Monitors work through all stages of pre-production and production and facilitates solutions to any issues that may arise. Being an Art Director Assistant reviews the work of videographers, photographers, designers, and graphic artists. Requires knowledge of typography, layout, color, and visual communication. Additionally, Art Director Assistant requires a bachelor's degree of art or design. Typically reports to Art Director. The Art Director Assistant gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Title: Host / Server Assistant

    Host Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $12.00 to $15.00, commensurate with experience; Server Assistant Starting Hourly Pay: $6.00, plus tips

    SUMMARY

    The Host is the first impression guests will experience, as they are the first point of contact when they greet customers, show them to their seats or put them on a waiting list, and provides menus. They may also handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and its menu. As the Server Assistant, support is provided to the Professional Servers, to ensure that the guest experience exceeds expectations in quality and timeliness of service. They may further enhance the customers’ time in the District, by answering questions and suggesting other offerings in the District.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Greets guests, escorts them to their tables and provides them with menus.
    • Manages the seating chart.
    • Initiates and maintains waitlists.
    • Monitors restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow, to better seat guests expeditiously and to quote correct wait times.
    • Learns and retains knowledge of the menu and the restaurant, in order to address guests’ questions.
    • Performs assigned opening, closing, and side work duties.
    • Maintains a clean entrance and workspace at all times.
    • Cleans and sanitizes menus, as required throughout the shift.
    • Monitors restrooms for cleanliness throughout the shift.
    • Clears dirty plates, utensils, and glassware from tables, as required, delivering them to the kitchen.
    • Prepares tables and dining room for arriving guests, by sweeping, wiping down tables and chairs, wiping up spills and setting up tableware, rolled silverware, and condiments.
    • Assists Professional Servers in delivering food and beverages to the tables when Servers are taking care of other guests.
    • Responds to patrons’ requests and informs management of any complaints.
    • Arranges tables and chairs to accommodate larger groups of guests.
    • Assists Professional Servers with guests, when needed.
    • Clears and sets tables.
    • Removes trash and recycling.
    • Fills ice bins.
    • Rolls silverware.
    • Always maintains a positive and proactive attitude in a customer service-oriented environment, to provide an exceptionally welcoming customer experience.
    • Provides assistance to other Hosts and Professional Servers and ensures that tables are cleared, cleaned and properly set for guests.
    • Actively seeks to improve skills, by setting and achieving personal development goals.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned by the Restaurant Manager and/or the Director of Operations.
    • Works varied day or night shift hours, throughout the workweek and weekend, and some holidays.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    REQUIRED:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
    • Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and courteously, with professionalism.

    PREFERRED: Prior restaurant or hotel experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Excellent verbal and written communication should be professional and accurate.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    • Understanding of simple math, as it relates to customer service.

    REASONING ABILITY

    • Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    No certifications, licenses or registrations are required for this position.

    PREFERRED: Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Certification

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Prolonged periods of standing, with shifts up to nine (9) hours.
    • Walking in the restaurant and short distances to entities on the property.
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
    • Must be able to carry trays, with food and beverages, up and down stairs to 2nd story dining area.
    • Must be able to climb up and down stairs in multi-story buildings.
    • Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • Host Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $12.00 to $15.00, commensurate with experience; Server Assistant Starting Hourly Pay: $6.00, plus tips
    • Medical, Dental, Vision for Full-Time Employee = employer pays a minimum of 50% of employee’s premium, indexed annually based on ACA affordability guidelines. (Part-time employee is not eligible for health benefits.)
    • Discounts on food are offered to the Employee at the Employee’s worksite (Tony’s Pasta Shop), for the Employee’s meals or breaks while the Employee is on duty.
    • Flexible schedule, as determined by the Restaurant Manager and in accordance with restaurant needs.
    • Holidays = Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only recognized holidays for the restaurants, although the Inn and Bakery are open; position availability is at the discretion of the Director of Operations and the General Manager.
