GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Laboratory Assistant will work with lead instructor to assist with student preparation of wax modeling project / presentation for FSR239 Restorative Art. This course prepares students for reconstruction of areas of the body that have been distorted by traumatic injury or disease. Class is held on the campus of Bridgewater State University in both the fall and spring semesters.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Provide students with 1:1 guidance during the lab sessions.
• Assist students in completing assignments during hands-on lab/class.
• Assist with facial cosmetics, wax and of Plaster of Paris skulls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate of Arts Degree in Funeral Service or Fine Arts or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of the bone and muscle structure of the human head and face including differences related to age and gender.
• Understanding of the spatial relationship between the features of the face.
• Understanding how aging can affect the skin, muscles, and facial features.
• Ability to demonstrate in class how facial features and other surface areas are made using the wax material employed in facial restoration.

COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary $32 per hour for 4 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC unit position.
