  • 1.  The purpose of the Unit Secretary or Monitor Tech is to provide maintenance of the units nurse’s station under the direction of Registered and Licensed Practice Nurses.  
    2.  The Unit Secretary or Monitor Tech position is a supportive role that facilitates the delivery of excellent care to our patients through clerical and bedside clinical care roles
    **The primary purpose of the Unit Secretary or Monitor Technician is to be a supportive role that facilitates the delivery of excellent care to our patients through assistance with accurate order entry. Friendly phone etiquette, welcoming guests the units and assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. 

    Education:

    • High School Graduate or GED certificate

    Experience / Abilities:

    • Must posses communication, writing skill, Physical/emotion stamina
    • Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment preferred.
    •  Possess the ability to learn medical and pharmacological terminology.
    •  Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
    •  Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.

    Certifications / Licenses:

    •  Required: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) 
    • Required:  Possess Basic EKG and/or Dysrhythmia education
    •  Preferred: Unit Secretary Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant or Cardiac Monitor Tech Certification
