Summary
Provides general assistance to Assessor. Enters updates to existing parcels in mass appraisal computer system and tax software system. Performs a variety of information dissemination and clerical services for employees and general public who visit or call the Assessor's office. Completes detailed onsite parcel review, including measure and listing of improvements.
Essential Functions
- Works with mass appraisal and tax software systems; maintains and updates parcels in the system to the web (sales updates, parcel exclusions and corrections etc) creates reports from the system to assist in valuation of property.

Answer department telephone calls; assist vistors to the department; provides information as requested: must be able to read legal descriptions and understand basic appraisal procedures for the office to answer questions on variety of property assessment related topics (exemptions, homestead, board of review, property record cards, property tax calculations, etc).

Assist taxpayers at counter who sign up for homestead, military, forest reserve, business property tax credit and family farm exemption/credit forms; Maintain and sort applications for record keeping purposes; complete disallowance forms on property which are no longer eligible for homestead or military exemption/credit; update computer information accordingly.

Completes onsite review of improved taxable and exempt parcels in the jurisduction to measure and list improvements.

Update tax/valuation software with value changes to property to assist in the completion of all value changes by April 1 of each year.

Laser measuring systems — handheld distance meters; laser measuring devices; ultrasonic distance measurers Math Knowledge Basic math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing Add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent Other Knowledge Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in GIS. Laws, regulations, and ordinances governing area of assignment in the Assessor Office. Essential Education, Certification, and/or Licenses
High School diploma or GED AND 2-4 years work related experience in construction, real estate, clerical and/or customer services.
