Appraiser (Commercial Real Estate) conducts commercial real estate appraisals and property ratings to establish the market value generally used for investment guidance, lending, insurance, or other purposes. Follows standard processes for conducting and documenting on-site property inspections. Being an Appraiser (Commercial Real Estate) performs data collection and research on building permits, prior assessments, and relevant market and economic conditions that impact property value. Reviews building plans and specifications and investigates the quality of the construction, the overall condition of the property, and the surrounding location. Additionally, Appraiser (Commercial Real Estate) uses generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Utilizes appraisal software tools and databases. Ensures that reports comply with required policies, formats, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. May require the Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a manager. The Appraiser (Commercial Real Estate) work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. For seven years, our team of Washington, D.C. based commercial real estate lenders and deposit relationship managers have been building a substantial business serving these customers. Our Washington D.C. commercial real estate mortgage portfolio now exceeds $1B and our commercial deposit relationships in Washington are an important source of funding for the Bank. We continue to build out a larger team, with a focus on commercial real estate origination and private client banking/treasury management. This individual will be responsible for originating commercial real estate loans in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area, along with developing deposit relationships with our commercial real estate borrowers. They will work closely with our extended team, including our other lenders in Boston and Washington, as well as our Specialized Deposit Group. Strong candidates will have a demonstrated record of origination, deep knowledge of the greater Washington, D.C. commercial real market, and good underwriting and valuation skills.
