    Salary range(s) for this classification is/are:
    • Systems Applications Programmer I: $81,790.80 - $99,437.52
    • Systems Applications Programmer II: $90,723.36 - $110,313.84 
    This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.
     
    Under direct supervision of the Information Systems Analyst, the SAP I/II will assist other DOT IT developers and GIS specialists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of applications that support various engineering, administrative, and field maintenance teams throughout the Department of Transportation.
     
    The ideal candidate will be proficient in developing and administering a Salesforce environment, including Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura components and Administration, as well as have experience with GIS solutions with mapping technologies such Web App Builder. Experience building integration tools to synchronize disparate data sources. The candidate must also have strong skills in web development and user interface (UI) design as well as an understanding of SDLC processes and Agile methodologies. Lastly the candidate would also require Data Analytics experience ingesting data from various sources into tools such as Power BI.
     
    A dedication to quality customer service and continuous improvement is a must as this position will regularly interface with end users to create program specifications and documentation and adapt to a range of new technologies to modernize our systems.
     
    Desirable skills and experience include but are not limited to: 
    • Software development experience desired (1-3) years
    • Salesforce development (e.g. Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura components and Administration)
    • Strong database scripting knowledge (Python, SQL, etc.)
    • Prior development and support experience with City/County applications 
    • Solid understanding and experience with SDLC processes
    • Analytics experience 1-3 years preferably with Power BI 
    • Understanding of data warehouse/lake/lakehouse infrastructure

    • SAP I: A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
    • SAP II: Successful completion of advanced undergraduate course work from an accredited college or university in computer science, business administration or related field.
    EXPERIENCE:
    • SAP I: One (1) year experience in computer systems applications programming.
    • SAP II: Two (2) years of computer systems applications programming experience. 
    ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS FOR SAP I: Additional years of directly related work experience may be substituted for up to a maximum of two (2) years of the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. There will be no substitute for the one (1) year work experience requirement.

    • Experience with Data Analytics
    • Experience with APEX Programming, Salesforce development, and GIS tools,
    • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.

    Communication Skills - Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing; demonstrates effective use of listening skills; displays openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts.  
     
    Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills - Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
