Position Summary:
Oversees, assists, and develops database designs, content management, identity management, maintenance and applications that provide information services to support all divisions of the school district. Consults and works with District staff on projects to develop, implement and support administrative and instructional computer systems.
Formal Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of information system preferred
Primary Functions:
Develop and maintain SharePoint environment and its ties into reports and documents.
Make recommendations for new functionality based on analysis of required functionality.
Design prototypes, visual interfaces and interaction of desktop or web-based applications. Design and evaluate visual human interfaces utilizing user-centered design principles. Implement the user interface design.
Perform initial testing and coordinate user testing, leading to sign-off by users and final implementation.
Document all work completed for review. Explains concepts used in development strategy to other team members.
Secondary Functions:
Create reports or database extracts from commercial systems using SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services or Crystal Reports.
Create and oversee data transfer processes to and from 3rd Party Vendors using SFTP or other methodology.
Administer, maintain, develop, and implement procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the program database.
Oversee and develop database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. Cleans and maintains the database by removing and deleting old data.
Troubleshoot issues with existing or developed systems and work with the appropriate resources to resolve them. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Keeps abreast of emerging developments in programming through continuing education, professional reading, forums, and participation in conferences, workshops, and professional groups.
Assume any additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Three (3) years developing various software applications in Microsoft technologies and other programming environments. (PowerShell, Power Apps)
Three (3) years of SQL Server database experience.
Prior experience in IT Applications Development and support required.
Understanding and monitoring of security and access controls.
Demonstrated experience in large scale database information systems. Student Information System (Infinite Campus) and ERP Systems (Lawson or Tyler Munis) a plus.
Data transfer experience with SFTP is a plus.
Capability to attain technical knowledge and skills rapidly.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of SQL Server, SQL, Powershell, PowerApps. Desirable to have working knowledge of Sharepoint Online, Microsoft Flow, Google Workspace, Office 365 and Azure infrastructure.
Knowledge and experience with reporting tools and/or retrieval systems (i.e., Crystal Reports, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, Access, Excel, and Data Warehouse concepts and maintenance).
Extensive knowledge of ETL, systems analysis and design.
Well developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to work closely with District and outside agency employees to understand their job related information technology needs.
Positive work attitude with the ability to work as part of a team as well as work independently and manage multiple task assignments.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
Knowledge of commonly used Operating Systems including Android and Windows 10 .
Work Environment:
Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions. Work includes a commitment to irregular working hours as needed.
