Applications Programming Supervisor supervises the teams and daily activities needed for the analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Monitors operational metrics and processes and implements standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Supervisor supports multiple development projects with scheduling, planning, and resource allocation. Conducts feedback processes, including peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Supervisor fosters a performance culture using individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May supervise vendors or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Programming Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Providence is seeking a Supervisor IS Laboratory Applications:

    The purpose of this position is to provide excellence in applications which includes, implementations and support for Providence St Joseph Health and affiliated organizations. The essential functions of this position include providing day to day support and supervision of the application staff. Supports the department and IS strategic goals, resource planning and utilization. This includes the support of individual application road map success, implementation and optimization activities, and production support of applications within span of control. This position is responsible for supervising, mentoring and developing application analysts as well as other staff. This position is responsible for the supporting the overall integrity of their application build and infrastructure, the success of new Epic and integrated third party product introductions. The position will primarily be focused on internal application teams and supporting the day to day functions for our analyst caregivers to ensure their success

    In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

    • Maintains relationships with key business partners and other leaders specific to their customer service line and IS partnerships.

    • Supports appropriate service delivery models for core application functions by managing the day to day applications team and it's technology.

    • Ensures that the applications division supports IS services and systems effectively, and partners with business and clinical leadership to meet organizational objectives.

    • As appropriate, manages and/or escalates critical issues problems or delays in production, projects or other initiatives that have an impact on the customer in partnership with their manager or senior manager.

    • Responsible for working with key stakeholders including managers, senior leaders, and a variety of customers to support the delivery of technical solutions that are effective and user-friendly, and support strategic initiatives, business and clinical outcomes.

    • Support ensuring the performance of respective applications and evaluates the performance of services on the basis of specific KPIs.

    • Support the departmental and IS budget expectations and goals through day to day management of the team and the expectations set for their specified application.

    • Accountable to oversees compliance with department specific policies and procedures for applications that impact all of PSJH.

    • Attracts, hires, trains, motivates, retains, and develops a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of applications management.

    • Maintains internal operations in order to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs including active participation in process improvement to service delivery, increasing value and promoting customer service and satisfaction.

    • Able to lead and mentor other leaders on project work with moderate to high complexity and risk. Strong Epic application knowledge in the specified application to support growth, training, and development of their team members as well as support projects for success.

    • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services or equivalent educ/experience

    • Within 90 days of hire: Epic certification

    • Applicable Epic Certification when required is to be completed within 3 months of last class required for certification upon hire

    • Some application suites require advanced application certification as demonstrated by a current application software certification requirement (i.e., Epic) upon hire

    • 4 years lab application analyst and/or 7 years experience with equivalent healthcare software

    Preferred qualifications:

    • 2 years' Information Service Leadership experience

    • 4 years experience with Blood Bank, LIS or POCT information systems experience

    • 2 years experience with integration applications with Epic

    • 3rd Party Application Oversight experience.
