    POSITION SUMMARY

    Work within the IT department and manage the lifecycle of software applications as well as software and systems upgrades. Plan out which software applications are needed for smooth business operations and supervise the installation and daily maintenance of those applications, as well as the associated network and hardware installations. This role is responsible for managing software applications for all business units. They assess stakeholder process requirements and identify application solutions keeping an awareness of the latest software development and how it can make business more efficient and successful.

    Through collaboration with the technical services manager, this leader will ensure infrastructure is ready prior to system implementations and carefully monitor the rollout process of software applications. Provide systems-related technical support and problem resolution by reviewing issues and providing relevant solutions. Create, develop, and oversee processes and procedures for usage once standards have been established. The Applications Manager will manage, direct, and support deployment, maintenance, and other services related to the software applications used within the organization.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversees the schedules and projects assigned to application members.
    • Hires and trains members of the application services team.
    • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that new systems and changes are properly tested.
    • Maintain inventories of business applications.
    • Analyzing business operations and the business's computer systems and determining which software applications could improve efficiency.
    • Making recommendations on whether to upgrade the existing systems or install new ones.
    • Conduct workflow analysis, and business process reviews and create functional specifications.
    • Ability to determine and convey budgetary project and program impacts to business partners.
    • Ability to motivate, effectively delegate, and coach team to create a positive and dynamic working atmosphere.
    • Ensure timely and consistent communication during any major downtime.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the respective applications team.
    • Strong project management experience including implementation and upgrades of business-critical systems.
    • Experience in providing application support in a variety of business environments.
    • Experience working with technical systems support professionals, e.g., project managers, business system and application analyst, network administrators, database administrators, and application developers.
    • Leading teams of IT specialists in the implementation and upgrading of software.
    • Monitoring the roll-out of new software applications to ensure there are no problems.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving any problems with business application software.
    • Identify, escalate, and manage project risks and issues to resolution.
    • Manage outside vendors and contractors to ensure performance expectations and customer satisfaction.
    • Provide support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote maximum performance.
    • Coordinate analysis and resolve issues on all system upgrades and changes.
    • Ensure application resources are assigned appropriately to day-to-day support and projects.
    • Creating and overseeing protocols and procedures for the use of any new software applications.
    • Training employees on the use of any new software applications and maintaining a good work atmosphere.
    • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the latest software developments.
    • Perform all other tasks assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with CSS, HTML, SQL, EDI, and SQL Server software and systems
    • Mastery of application security best practices.
    • Ability to solve technical and operational problems.
    • Sound understanding of software development life cycles.
    • Thorough understanding of managing application versioning in multiple environments.
    • Ability to produce and maintain necessary documentation.
    • Excellent customer service and project management skills.


    Minimum Qualifications:


    Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Information Systems, Computing, or related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Substantial experience in Information Systems, with successful experience managing major, complex applications development projects.
