  • Job Summary

    Reporting to the VP of Innovation, The Applications Manager oversees the day-to-day phone and online operations related to lending and membership growth. Their primary objective is to enhance overall performance, productivity, and profitability while fostering sustainable member relationships through the delivery of an exceptional member experience. The manager also monitors and assesses member satisfaction, utilizing various metrics to analyze and plan improvements in care center performance.

    This role requires a versatile skill set, encompassing expertise as a service provider, coach, trainer, mentor, motivator, and decision-maker, while leading the Applications team. Responsibilities include leading, planning, and coordinating the activities of the Applications Department team to uphold and improve member relationships, aligning with the credit union's organizational and operational goals.

    Furthermore, the Applications Manager holds the responsibility of identifying, prioritizing, and implementing process improvements across the Lending Division. Additionally, they serve as the coordinator for special projects in Member Onboarding.

     

    Major Responsibilities

    • Develops and upholds department policies, streamlines processes, and implements effective risk controls. Ensures accuracy and currency of all procedures and guidelines. Regularly collaborates with the team to enhance processes, workflows, and seeks legal counsel as needed for informed decision-making.
    • Manages the day-to-day operations of the entire team, overseeing all employees. Responsibilities include hiring, reviewing, scheduling, training, directing, and monitoring the work of direct reports. Conducts performance reviews and allocates resources to meet operational needs. Reviews and approves, denies, or modifies department recommendations for subordinates.
    • Fosters employee development and engagement, administers quality control measures, and assists with complex collection and/or bankruptcy situations. Ensures professional service, maintains the Credit Union's image, and provides courteous member service.
    • Maintains knowledge of credit union products, services, applications, promotions, procedures, policies, and federal regulations. Utilizes resources such as The Mark to provide up-to-date and accurate information to members and co-workers.
    • Promotes a positive work environment by implementing staff recognition programs, including daily/weekly contests and morale-building programs.
    • Manages staff and activities involved in providing loan origination and processing, ensuring timely and accurate applications, quality member service, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Monitors online applications through various vendors.
    • Plans, coordinates, and supervises special projects within the Lending Division. Collaborates with key stakeholders and third-party vendors for the flawless execution of lending projects.
    • Provides information systems and reporting support to the team, developing efficiencies and reporting using Symitar core system, meridian link, and unity.

    Job Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of formal training and at least five (5) years progressive financial institution experience.
    • 2 years' of strong leadership, delegation, and problem resolution experience. 
    • Successful record in leading, mentoring, motivating, coaching, and supervising a professional-level team.
    • Thorough knowledge of care center operations, including workforce management, scheduling, and call volume forecasting.
    • Ability to leverage technology for process advancement, efficiency improvement, and metric development.
    • Collaboration skills to interact with all levels of management and work in a collaborative environment.
    • Effective problem resolution skills, with the ability to make empowered decisions to resolve issues.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff with positive results.
    • Superior communication skills, both oral and written, along with good listening skills and sensitivity to staff diversity.
