Applications Programming Manager manages teams and implements policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Manager reviews development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Leads feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Manager establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May manage outsourcing budgets, vendors, or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Applications Programming Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Cox Media is seeking a leader for Senior Manager Programming and Content for its YurView line of business. YurView is Cox Media's owned and operated video distribution platform. YurView produces and distributes programming of local interest on the YurView Channel which is available to Cox Communications cable customers and all others online.

    The Senior Manager works collaboratively with YurView and Cox Media leaders to develop and implement YurView's Programming and Content strategy. This position will focus on the content that will drive revenue through the usage of all CLO content platforms.

    Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Demonstrate leadership and expertise in leading a diverse team in Content creation and programming that will increase revenue for Cox Media through sales and viewership on multiple platforms.
    • Provides strategy and production of local programming by partnering with YurView Market Managers and Cox Media Leaders to develop scalable Local content and programming strategies.
    • Maximizes and increases viewership by creating programming strategies which achieve broad community recognition for Cox.
    • Collects, monitors, and analyzes business performance data for diverse business process areas.
    • Ensure successful implementation of content development and programming strategy.
    • Monitors business performance metrics, including year-over-year sales and other financial measures.
    • Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications and manages changes to those requirements.
    • Defines and develops process / operations improvement recommendations.
    • Sets the long-term vision and direction for programming and content projects.
    • Accountable for the creation and acquisition of aligned content in each regions market.
    • Identifies opportunities to leverage and monetize internal and external inventory
    • Builds strong partnerships with departments including but not limited CMI/Cox marketing, Cox Business, Cox Media and Community Relations partnerships to build programming strategy and drive revenue and support interdepartmental goals.
    • Develops and enhances processes and procedures to effectively monitor program content, quality, and production.
    • Oversees data analyses to identify potential liabilities in program production.
    • Provides input in creation of capital budget requests for equipment and systems.
    • Manages department budgets, assigns works, and maintains standards of excellence in television operations.
    • Ensures the widespread communication of lessons learned across the organization.
    • Analyzes organizational issues, determines the root cause and creates alternative solutions that are in the best interest of the business.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, roles and responsibilities used to provide technical, process or business guidance to clients, both internally and externally, and the ability to apply this knowledge appropriately in diverse situations. Able to understand client's / customer's objectives and project scope.
    • Guides the team in setting specific and measurable short- and long-term goals
    • Conveys opportunities, demonstrates benefits and inspires others to action.


    Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years' experience in a related field (Television Production, Live Event Production, Programming, etc.)
    • The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years' experience in a related field; or 12 years' experience in a related field no degree.
    • 3 years' experience in management or leadership role
    • Requires strong knowledge of video production, production trucks & transmission, rights negotiations.
    • Excellent organization, interpersonal, relationship management, leadership, negotiation, written, verbal, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization as well as external contacts
    • Track record of Sales through creative programming/Content


    Preferred

    • BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired
    • Experience in telecommunications industry desired
    • Experience with developing content for diverse genres preferred
    • Strong understanding of online/digital content development and distribution
