Applications Programmer performs coding, debugging, testing, configuration, and analysis to develop or modify application programs. Conducts detailed analysis of functional and technical requirements needed to create specifications. Being an Applications Programmer utilizes programming, scripting, or database language to produce efficient code. Performs unit testing of applications. Additionally, Applications Programmer produces application documentation, including process and data flow diagrams. Provides support for implementing, enhancing, integrating, and maintaining applications. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Applications Programmer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Programmer –
· Must have a minimum 5 yrs experience in Programming Automation Controls and Instrumentation or Programming Process Controls in any industry.
· Must have a certification in Programming PLCs, with the education in basics of PLC.
· Must have extensive background software training in one or more PLC programs ie Alan Bradley, Modicon, IDEC, Siemens, Honeywell or ABB.
· Must know how to Execute PLC Code based on drawings, specifications, and customer input.
· Must have Knowledge of RTUs. Understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting
· Must have extensive background in installing, troubleshooting and program different HMIs, ie Redlion, Allen Bradley, 5000 Logix.
· Must be Able to read and create logic based on Cause and Effect, Control Narrative and P & ID documentation.
· Must be able to interface with customer to design/validate controls in the absence of formal documentation.
· Must use standard engineering practices to provide detailed documentation upon project completion.
· Must know or have knowledge in Electrical ie Motor Controls
· Must know how to read schematics ie P&ID Loop, and Drawings
· Must have Electrical experience ie materials, conduit, wire, controls wire, etc.
· Must have experience in using Process meters, and testing equipment ie 789 Process meter and or a 479 Hart communicator.
· Must be PC proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Office applications.
· Must have Strong communication skills including verbal, e-mail composition, and telephone skills.
· Must be well organized, detail oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Able to work with no supervision.
· Flexible on schedule and travel
· Team Player and willing to take direction.
This Programmer position has several advanced technical skill levels, this could be a Programming any type of controls in any capacity and in any industry. We need to clarify and ask what industry the candidate has worked in or experience in. Emphasize on what type of equipment the candidate has been programming, and especially what PLCs and to what level.
Programmer Requirements and Qualifications
· Bachelors or Associate degree in PLC Programming, Automation Controls Processes, Instrumentation Technology preferred and or related on the job experience at least 5 yrs.
· Prior experience in Oil/Gas, Commercial Industrial, Heavy manufacturing environment, especially in roles related to systems repair and troubleshooting
· Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and math skills
· Experience with complex mechanical, pneumatic, and computerized systems
