    Description

    Principal Duty

    The Applications Engineer works closely together with the Solutions Engineering team to create customized material handling solutions for our customers. This role supports the local sales team from the first customer contact to the last bidding presentation, providing expertise in the mechatronic capabilities of the TGW product portfolio. Responsibilities include determining requirements, product selection, and preparing technical content for sales proposals.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    1. Make use of acquired skills in the engineering of material handling systems through the correct selection of TGW equipment, and/or other available manufactured equipment to successfully meet quotation requirements, i.e. rates, sortation equipment, pneumatics, drawings etc.
    2. Analyzes customer specifications; concepts material handling systems; prepares technical content of proposals such as equipment lists, 3D and 2D layout drawings, specification clarification, and pricing. If required, participates in presentation to the customer.
    3. Aids in the design and development of equipment and systems and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers.
    4. Provides equipment functionality and capability reports to sales force; participates actively with system architects and sales associates to support and develop sales proposals.
    5. Conducts equipment design reviews.
    6. Maintains an up-to-date and complete quotation file.
    7. Participate and/or assist in areas of concepting, written communications, total system pricing, and project "estimates to complete".
    8. Acts as a technical liaison to the sales team, suppliers, and customers and suppliers.

    Requirements Profile

    1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
    2. Prior applications engineering experience in materials handling environment preferred
    3. Proficient in Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint
    4. Preferred skills: AutoCAD (2D), Sketchup or other 3D Design Software
    5. Willingness to travel domestically (less than 10%) and internationally (one-time training, and one-time visit every other year after)up to 15% for training and customer support along with a mandatory 12- 16 week training course in Austria

      • 6 months after 1 week
      • Every other year 1-week trip
