Job Summary & Responsibilities Overview: The purpose of this position is to support customers both (internal and external) on the application of Onto Innovation’s Lithography Systems (JetStep) for both Panel and Wafer based manufacturing processes. The Applications engineer will support the account team by providing technical direction in order to secure future sales of equipment and services. Job Responsibilities: Provide both on-site and remote applications support to customers. Assist customers in solving problems related to the application of JetStep to their manufacturing processes. Supports the Applications Lab with input to customer Test Plans and provides execution support when required. Interface with external customers and internal departments to best determine equipment specifications. Perform experiments and/or analytical investigations within guidelines supplied by senior engineers. Report on results of experiments, tests and studies, provide preliminary interpretation. Aid in design and development of new equipment or redesign of existing systems to meet customer requirements. Communicate with external sales personnel and internal departments to determine customer needs. Apply good problem-solving skills to solve customer issues and applications. Will be required to work with Marketing to generate data for conferences and magazine articles Demonstrate systems to customers and provide customer training to ensure systems are being used effectively. Up to 10% travel is required with extended stays at customer locations Qualifications Qualifications: Minimum BS in chemistry, Microelectronics, or Physics. Masters or PHD preferred >2 years process engineering experience with wafer or panel manufacturing facility would be a plus >2 years hands on experience with Steppers and good knowledge of photolithography Good written and verbal communication skills essential Ability to work with limited direction and take initiative to solve problems Can function in a fast paced environment Fluency in Japanese, Chinese or Korean is a plus, but not required.
