Makes recommendations to product line management to improve service and design of products that encourage client retention. Additionally, Annuities Retention Specialist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Annuities Retention Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     The Teacher Education Department is seeking an Academic Advising and Retention Specialist for the Early Childhood Inclusive Endorsement’s Online Program. The Specialist does all of the advising, recruitment, and following up of leads for the Early Childhood Online Program students as well as the majority of the day-to-day office duties for the program.

    Job Duties
    The Early Childhood Inclusive (ECI) Online Academic Advising and Retention Specialist will work with faculty in multiple departments as well as other campus-wide entities to address the needs of the program, and assist current and prospective students in admissions, enrollment, retention, and program completion. Duties will include, but are not limited to, following up with prospective Early Childhood Inclusive students interested in transferring to UNK, analyzing transcripts, providing program reviews, keeping programs of study current, advising students, facilitating course transfer information, coordinating student teaching approvals, and monitoring program completion. This work will involve working with the community colleges, keeping transfer pathways and related TES system updated, and providing documentation for the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Scholarship program.
    The Early Childhood Inclusive (ECI) Online Academic Advising and Retention Specialist will collaborate with Early Childhood faculty to assist with future class scheduling and course enrollment needs, maintain/track course enrollments, keep program advising forms and website information updated, and facilitate permits and course requests for program-specific online courses. The person in this position will also prepare, organize, and maintain confidential data records, maintaining related data bases and records for the program, tabling at selected conferences or events for recruitment, complete miscellaneous clerical duties as required, and other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor’s Degree. Experience working in an office environment or similar team-oriented workplace. Solid overall computer competency using Microsoft Word and Excel. The position requires a person who is detail-oriented, organized, possesses strong customer service skills, and is skilled in working in a team-oriented environment. Dependability, maintaining confidentiality, and the ability to prioritize are necessary skills for this position. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience working in the field of education and/or with academic advising. Experience with MyBlue, TES (transfer exchange system), Degree Works, digital student record-keeping, as well as some expertise with Perceptive Content, SAP, and WebFocus.
