    As a Sales Support Specialist at Principal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our business unit representatives, becoming a product knowledge and sales expert along the way.  This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and advancement within the annuities distribution sector.

     

    Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

    • Provide marketing and presale support through daily phone contact with business unit registered representatives to improve product sales.
    • Promote business unit investment products through inbound phone contact with representatives. Investment products may include Fixed, Immediate and Variable Annuities. Also, resolve questions from representatives concerning our investment products.
    • Help position our investment products in the minds of representatives through daily inbound phone contact. Work through case design by staying current on issues surrounding retirement to help add value.
    • Maintain close working relationship with top representatives in an effort to increase sales.
    • Provide a broad overview of business unit retirement programs to representatives. Understand how our investments fit into an overall, well diversified portfolio of assets by staying current on economic and financial issues that affect our business unit.
    • Provide support for business unit wholesalers and internal wholesalers to support sales efforts by assisting with case design, sales ideas, hypothetical product illustrations, and application materials.
    • Provide competitive research and analysis on products and sales to our representatives through following industry trends and staying current on product development and sales approaches.
    • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

    Who You Are

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2 years related experience
    • Investment sales experience a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and math skills required
    • Requires basic computer and business unit software skills with Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite preferred

    Licensing requirements:

    • Successful Registration as an Investment Company Products/Variable contracts Limited Representative (FINRA Series 6 or equivalent and FINRA Series 63) within 90 days of employment.

    • FINRA Series 7 registration is preferred
    • Life Insurance and other FINRA licenses may be required
    • Extensive and detailed knowledge of FINRA Series 6 investment products required

    Salary Range Information

    Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
    Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

    $48450 - $65550 / year
    Time Off Program

    Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
