Annuities Director (New Business) directs the development of new accounts and business relationships through sales, marketing, and referrals. Reviews applications and contracts and ensures that all transactions comply with state and federal regulations. We are looking for a dynamic new business professional with a track record of success, who is seeking a new opportunity to make a difference.  This position will work with Banyan Global’s senior management team and practice area staff to develop new business strategy and lead new business efforts across the entire proposal life cycle. Specifically, this position will support and lead capture, partnering, proposal management, and proposal development, working across multiple technical areas.  The New Business Director will also help to develop new business systems and tools and provide capacity building support to new business and other Banyan Global staff. This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C.

    Responsibilities

    • Support strategy and communications, including:
      • Collaborate with Banyan Global practice areas and Senior Management to develop new business strategy and help ensure that goals are met.
      • Promote Banyan Global by participating in external events.
      • Work with communications and program staff to promote Banyan Global and its development impact, while positioning the firm for growth.
    • Lead and support market intelligence and pre-proposal efforts, including:
      • Build and maintain industry relationships to identify strategic new business opportunities.
      • Opportunity tracking and competitive landscape assessment
      • Partnering
      • Capture planning and prepositioning
      • Scoping trips, research and intelligence-gathering
      • Preliminary design and recruitment efforts
    • Lead and support proposal development, including:
      • Proposal management
      • Partnership management
      • Design
      • Writing and technical proposal contributions
      • Recruitment
      • Cost proposal strategy and development
      • Quality assurance and compliance
    • Lead and support resource development and capacity building efforts, including:
      • Develop new business resources, tools and systems, as needed.
      • Mentor, build the capacity of and provide oversight to staff to strengthen in-depth knowledge around new business strategy and activities.
      • Develop and cultivate relationships with subject matter experts, technical writers and other new business resources.
      • Support company knowledge management and CLA efforts.

    Qualifications

    • 10 years of experience in international development
    • Progressive responsibility in new business development with experience leading or writing winning USAID proposals and extensive knowledge of the USAID competitive landscape. Knowledge of other donors a plus.
    • Masters degree in relevant disciple preferred.
    • Experience working in one or more of Banyan Global’s technical areas (health, gender, economic growth, youth and MEL).
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Strong team-building, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English. Other languages preferred.
    • Strong planning and analytical skills.
    • Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
    • Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to frequently changing priorities.
    • Ability to travel.
