Annual Gift Director - Healthcare plans and implements the healthcare organization's campaign for monetary aid in annual gifts from corporations, outside agencies, and other donors. Assigns specific charitable donation campaigns to Annual Gift Coordinators. Being an Annual Gift Director - Healthcare is responsible for attracting and retaining prospective donors, monitoring programs, and analyzing past donations. Oversees annual giving revenue and expense goals and evaluates the effectiveness of a variety of solicitation programs. Additionally, Annual Gift Director - Healthcare requires a bachelor's degree.     Position Summary:

    Under direction, the incumbent performs the highest level of surgical technologist duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. The incumbent serves in a subject matter expert capacity providing support to all cardiothoracic specialty surgical areas. Duties include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers, vendors, and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff. Assists the department leadership with service related activities and identifying opportunities to streamline the operations relative to the surgical tech role. Functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource to new staff and other scrub personnel. Performs other related duties as required.

    • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
    • Verification of specialty equipment and inventory.
    • Contact surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases.
    • Communicate with related buyers, vendors, and other staff concerning their service.
    • Contact surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment.
    • Provide continuing education in-service to staff.
    • Assists the department leadership with service related activities and identifying opportunities to streamline the operations relative to the surgical tech role.
    • Functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource to new staff and other scrub personnel.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum three (3) years of Surgical Tech experience in an acute perioperative services hospital setting, required.
    • Three (3) years of Cardiothoracic Surgical Technician experience, preferably in an operation room handling a variety of complex surgical cases, preferred.
    • Demonstrates expertise in one complex surgical specialty or multiple surgical specialties.
    • Demonstrates skills in precepting, time management and organization of supplies and equipment.
    • Must be flexible to work variable shifts, hours and locations based on business needs.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including being competent in at least 3 of the following: heart transplants, lung transplants, ventricular assist devices, aortic aneurysms, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE), Balloon pump, Impella, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), cardiac robotic, or other complex cardiac procedures. Expert knowledge of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
    • Demonstrates interpersonal skills in customer service, problem-solving, and taking initiative.
    • Knowledge of Cardiothoracic anatomy and physiology.
    • Ability to work in a very high stress/demanding environment.

    Education: 

    • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician training program, required.

    Certifications:

    • Current BLS certification; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider, required.
    • NBSTA certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred. Required within three (3) years of hire or transfer.

     

    Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
