PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The YMCA of Honolulu is seeking an individual with passion for our cause to join its development team as the Director of Annual Giving, reporting to the Vice President of Development. Raises annual funds in support of the mission of the YMCA of Honolulu. Responsible for developing relationships with YMCA donors; securing annual donations and grants from individuals, corporations and foundations in support of the YMCA of Honolulu and its key programs. This includes working with branches, boards and other campaign volunteers on their fundraising strategies for the Annual Campaign (AC) and to ensure we meet goals Association-wide; working collaboratively with appropriate branch or Metro staff. Position is also responsible for grant reports and to track impact measures as it relates to the successful completion of grants. Works out of the Metropolitan Office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
Annual Giving

Implements strategies within the Association to ensure healthy growth for the Annual Campaign

Stewardship: Focus on donor retention, community involvement and giving clubs. Ensures there is a stewardship plan.

Focus on key indicators to promote strategic growth.

Works with Branch Executive Directors in their relationships within each YMCA community to enhance support at the branch level. Develops top 20 annual campaign prospects as part of process. Works with branches to create a volunteer base of supporters to drive the annual giving program.

Develops a structured Annual Campaign plan across the Association to ensure branch growth (increasing renewal and upgrade rate). Makes sure everyone has a plan and strategy to succeed and a way to track progress.

Analyzes annual giving data to provide recommendations and strategy for the following year’s plan.

Works closely with the Marketing Department staff and vendors to support the development of:

Donor stories for the E-Newsletter

Stewardship events
Corporate and Foundation Relations

Responsible for writing grant proposals for key YMCA programs. Also responsible for submitting grant reports for those grants.

Solicits corporate sponsorships for YMCA events.

Conducts internal Aloha United Way campaign.
Donor Data Management
Works in collaboration with Development Operations Manager and Development Coordinator in the enhancement of donor data and analysis reports in CRM (Raiser’s Edge).
Assists Vice President of Development

Conducts screening visits of selected potential prospects.

Supports Capital Campaign events, cultivation and stewardship.

Stewardship of President’s Club members.

Develops his/her own top 20 prospects to manage.
-
Supports the Association by participating in Metro or Association-wide events.

Helps with President’s Club & Heritage Club events.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Skills/Knowledge

Ability to develop meaningful relationships with donors, staff and volunteers and engage them in the mission of the YMCA.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to inspire and make impactful presentations to groups.

Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Working knowledge of databases helpful.

Knowledge and experience with social media helpful.

Education/Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
-
Two years of experience working in nonprofits, preferably in fundraising.

Ability to write, prior grant writing experience a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in regular office conditions.

Often visits other branch sites.
-
Attends conferences, meetings, and workshops on island or outside the State.

Occasionally works outdoors (i.e. promotional and community-related activities)
