Animal Technician provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    We are focused on finding a full time “Veterinary Assistant” to join our team of professionals and will consider a part time as well!  You will have the advantage of working with a collaborative team while maintaining a work and quality of life balance. 

    As a Veterinary Assistant, you will help set the tone for the client’s appointment as we build and maintain each customer's trust and confidence in our abilities.  

    The Veterinary Assistant is essential to how our appointments flow and our hospital operates, qualities we are looking for:
     

    • Previous experience is preferable, but we are willing to train
    • Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Customer service skills
    • Working knowledge of computers
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments
    • Excellent multi-tasking and follow through
    • Enjoys working with people and animals and it shows
    • Can remain calm under pressure
    • Remains positive, professional and respectful
    • Recommending, selecting, and obtaining products and services, including prescriptions.
    • Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on non-medical pet care (i.e., heartworm prevention, housebreaking, and flea & tick control).
    • Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence.
    • Hospital maintenance (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times—both inside and outside.
