Animal Scientist conducts research, and analyzes and experiments on the selection, breeding, feeding, management, and marketing of animals. Determines and evaluates their applications to scientific study. Being an Animal Scientist requires a degree in animal science. May be expected to have an advanced degree in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience. Additionally, Animal Scientist has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.   • Our practice is excited to add another Veterinary Technician to our team! We have a new state-of-the-art facility and are AAHA Accredited! We host monthly lunch and learns, monthly and quarterly staff celebrations and the MOVE initiative with outings and quarterly prizes! We are looking for an individual who is good at communicating, organization, and multi-tasking, and who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have at least 1-2 years' pervious Veterinary Technician experience, is able to draw blood, place catheters and monitor anesthesia. A candidate with strong surgical and ICU training is preferred.

    Pay Range: $19/hour entry-level, $21/hour ICU trained, $23/hour surgery trained, up to $25 based on experience and time in role

    Hours of operation: Monday - Friday: 7:30 am - 9:00 pm, Saturday: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, & Sunday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

    ***Hospital is Staffed with patients/resort guests 24/7, 365 days/year

    ***Ability to work at least one weekend per month and one holiday per year is required

    Essential Functions:

    • Able to perform basic animal handling and restraint
    • Be able to accurately position for radiographs
    • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
    • Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
    • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well as providing client education
    • Collect and prepare diagnostic samples
    • Anesthesia monitoring
    • Assist in maintaining practice equipment
    • Assist veterinarian performing surgery
    • Assist veterinarians in any other assigned tasks
    • Maintain cleanliness of surgery suite, treatment area, and exams rooms for all surfaces
    • Support DEA compliance as it relates to the role
    • Any other duties as assigned

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Previous veterinary medicine experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 40 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 40 pounds with assistance
    • Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
    • Computer skills, MS office applications, etc.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
