Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for the supply and processing needs of the Anesthesia Department and assists in the preparation of the Operating Rooms with necessary equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. This person works collaboratively with the Biomedical Engineering and Respiratory Therapy Departments and is an integral member of the Operating Room team with a commitment to efficiency and to providing safe, high quality care to the surgical patients. He or she performs other responsibilities as requested by the Nurse Manager, RN designee, or Director of Anesthesia or his designee.
High School education or equivalency required Prior hospital experience preferred
