Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Evening shift: 1pm-9:30pm - flexible
1. Performs duties according to department specific expectations as identified and assigned.
2. Orders, restocks, and outdates anesthesia department supplies in a work environment that is conducive to an orderly and efficient work flow.
3. Maintains equipment, cleans & restocks anesthesia machines and carts daily, coordinates preventive maintenance and the assessment of malfunctioning equipment by the Biomed department and takes actions required for repair or replacement.
4. Serves as a communication liaison between the surgery desk and the anesthesia department.
5. Follows established charge procedures for patient supplies and demonstrates a cost-effective awareness by careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies and linens.
Preferred:
High School diploma or its equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in the hospital environment and Surgery experience.
Knowledge of anesthesia supplies and equipment, medical and surgical asepsis and infection control principles.
Surgical Technologist or LPN.
