Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. SUMMARY OF POSITION :
Responsible to prepare appropriate instruments, equipment and supplies for the administration of each type of anesthetic procedure. Assist the Anesthesiologist/CRNA in the insertion of invasive monitoring such as arterial lines, CVP, swan/ganz and ICP, induction and transportation of monitored/high-risk patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required
1 year of advanced procedure based patient care along with technical experience and/or background with medical equipment required
Basic computer skills
Must be able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions
Basic mathematics skills required
Leadership and customer service skills required
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 500 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk 100% of the workday
CPR certification and ACLS candidate preferred
Must pass a written and skills demonstration (hands on) test with a minimum score of 80%
