Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Salem Valley Veterinary Clinic’s Dentistry service is searching for a Certified Veterinary Technician who is proficient in administering and monitoring anesthesia. Certification is required for this position.
Role and Responsibilities
The ideal team member will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience devoted mainly to dental/anesthesia/operating room scenarios is preferable. This position would be a great fit for someone who enjoys advanced surgical/anesthetic cases and finds the idea of actively participating in creating individual anesthetic protocols for patients with various comorbidities exciting and fulfilling (VTS candidates welcome and supported!).
In addition to general dentistry, we provide endodontics, orthodontics, facial reconstruction, oncologic surgery, and so much more; we are also expanding to offer minimally-invasive ear, nose, and throat procedures. Zoo, exotic, and equine anesthesia opportunities will be available, interest in these areas would be considered a plus but is not required or preferred.
The dentistry service at Salem Valley Veterinary clinic currently serves clients in a radius of greater than three hours, providing a large and varied caseload that never gets dull. The clinic also houses the only Cone-Beam CT scanner in the state and actively participates in clinical trials and product development on the bleeding edge of veterinary dentistry. We take pride in the services we can offer, but we also value quality of life. Our clinic is open Monday through Friday with no evening or weekend hours and no on-call shifts; patients that require hospitalization are transferred to one of several nearby facilities if necessary. A four-day work week is available if desired.
We have a long-standing and solid reputation within our community. We have large goals tucked away in a small package and offer a large potential for further growth.
