Ambulatory Services Director directs the staff and programs of the ambulatory services department. Oversees, administers, and coordinates all activities and operations of the ambulatory services for the health care facility, including outpatient clinics, outpatient surgery, and urgent care centers. Being an Ambulatory Services Director develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for ambulatory services and programs. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Ambulatory Services Director ensures non-emergency care clinics operate within budget and in accordance with performance standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ambulatory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Overview

    The Director Perioperative Services position is responsible for direction and coordination related to clinical operations within the PACU, Baylis Day Surgery and Special Procedures departments within the Perioperative Services Division.  Ensures the daily operations are managed in a way that optimizes efficient work flow, meets customers’ needs, and adheres to the annual operating and capital budgets.  Facilitates interdepartmental communication and collaboration to optimize team relationships and quality patient outcomes. Coordinates performance improvement activities to advance quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness within the Perioperative Services product-line.  Ensures incorporation of Magnet Program principles and concepts into the day-to-day functioning of Perioperative Services. Provides service to 6 OR, 6 procedural rooms and numerous surgical specialties. Embodies the Memorial Health Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Stewardship that support our mission and vision.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree required. 

    ·         Master’s degree in healthcare field (Nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration) required.

     

    Licensure/Certification/Registry:

    ·         Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred. 

    ·         Applicable nurse certification preferred.

     

    Experience:

    ·         Minimum five years healthcare management/administrative experience required.

    ·         Minimum two years of experience leading complex projects directed at healthcare facility design/renovation/construction, healthcare outcomes, patient safety, or process improvement required.

    Responsibilities

  • Accountable for timely, effective resolution of operational issues/problems/critical incidents that impact patient care/nursing/ processes in areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of operational changes with potential to involve multiple patient care-related departments/units.
  • Provides oversight for the coordination, standardization, and improvement of patient care in areas of responsibility, including staffing, scheduling, and optimal resource management.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to identify and implement changes in daily work processes to facilitate optimal clinical, financial and culture of safety outcomes.
  • Monitors the monthly operating statement and budget variances on assigned units/departments and directs Nurse Managers in addressing and correcting variances.Assists with the development of annual capital and operational budgets for the Perioperative Services Division.
  • Participates in patient care product acquisition decisions; including the RTE process.
  • Accountable for the research, development, and implementation of special projects/new services that impact areas of responsibility.
  • Provides input on facility renovation/construction projects involving assigned patient care units to ensure integration of clinical needs.
  • Provides administrative direction to assigned Nurse Managers in monitoring and developing action plans to address patient, employee and physician satisfaction issues.
  • Maintains current knowledge and compliance with all regulatory standards and assumes leadership role in preparation for accreditation and licensing surveys/reviews.
  • Facilitates inter- and intra-departmental cooperation & collaboration to ensure compliance with required processes to maximize patient flow & throughput.
  • Serves on key housewide committees/task forces/work groups as Perioperative Services Division representative.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department in the planning, implementation & evaluation of patient care workforce needs including recruitment, retention, and professional development of current and future staff.
