Director of Alumni Relations & Scholarships
Cleveland Institute of Art seeks a collaborative, dynamic and entrepreneurial Director for Alumni Relations and Scholarships. The Director will work closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement External Relations and the team members in Advancement, and will be responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing a comprehensive program to engage alumni and prospective and current scholarship donors to attract broad support for CIA. The new Director will have strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication, networking, and fundraising skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills which will assure that activities and communications to CIA’s alumni are engaging and serve to involve alumni and the college. This position is also responsible for a portfolio of alumni, scholarship donors and others as assigned with the ultimate goal to increase financial support for CIA and its students. As such, the Director is also responsible for managing a comprehensive donor stewardship program, including reporting, events and recognition that engage alumni and scholarship donors.
The successful candidate will establish strategies and execution plans for alumni engagement, including but not limited to alumni gatherings both in Cleveland and in geographic areas where there are significant concentrations of CIA alumni. This individual leads the development and execution of all alumni and scholarship recognition and cultivation events to raise the profile of the school within our prospect base. In addition to providing oversight of the operations, this individual should be prepared to roll up their sleeves as needed, to get the job done and must have a sense of humor!
A bachelor’s degree required; three to five years’ experience in development at an educational or nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will: have experience and interest in internal and external communications and fundraising; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, mail merge operations and database usage skills, preferably Raisers Edge. Requires knowledge of effective prospect management and research. The ability to think creatively and develop innovative approaches to fundraising, events, and volunteer management. High level of integrity, and strong team orientation. Ability to motivate, educate and manage diverse constituencies, both internal and external to the college.

Compensation
This is a full-time exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Cleveland Institute of Art offers a benefit package including; vacation, sick, personal time accrual as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break; health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and inter-museum council discounts.
