Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient processes
- Manage a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed
- Perform manual labor as required for aviation maintenance and repair
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to diagnose and troubleshoot aviation issues
- Coordinate and schedule repairs, maintenance, and service appointments
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets industry standards
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for avionics repair
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in avionics technology
Requirements:
- Must have/had a FAA avionics Repairman certificate at a Part 145 Repair Station in the past 3 years
- Experience at a Garmin dealer preferred
- IFR certification and RVSM experience preferred.
- Proven experience as an aviation mechanic or in a similar role within the aviation industry
- Strong mechanical knowledge and proficiency in avionics repair
- Ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex avionics issues
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members
