Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages engineering tasks involving changes or alterations to designs or specifications of aircraft parts, modules, or systems to ensure calibration and safety. Implements procedures to guide the routine inspection of aircraft components to facilitate optimal and reliable functionality. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Manager oversees the scheduling and timely completion of repairs and maintenance ensuring budget adherence. Reviews documented issues and reports to determine repairability and evaluates recommendations for replacements, repairs, or modifications to ensure conformance with safety standards and performance requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Manager evaluates aircraft data and technical documents and researches new technologies to identify areas to improve practices or processes. Develops internal policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal aviation regulations and safety standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Measure, align, fit, assemble, connect, and install components using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment. Perform inspector duties within the FAA Certified Repair Station. Inspect, test, and troubleshoot aircraft systems and components. Perform aircraft modifications and retrofits. Utilize ground handling equipment to move aircraft. FAA IA preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in an FAA Certified Part 145 Repair Station, or similarly controlled repair environment. Ability to travel domestically. Ability to travel internationally strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret aircraft technical drawings and publications. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must possess a valid Idaho state driver’s license. Kodiak and TBM experience preferred. Aircraft engine run/taxi experience and/or pilot’s license preferred. Proficiency with MS Office strongly preferred.
