    Job Summary:

    An Aerial Lineman supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems that utilize aerial infrastructure. This includes working with overhead cables, lines, and related equipment to ensure the reliable transmission of voice, data, and other telecommunications services. Responsible for ensuring safe operating practices personally and for the team as a whole.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Mount, install, repair, and secure aerial telecommunication cables, lines, and associated equipment
    • Ensure proper placement and tensioning of cables to meet safety and performance standards
    • Install and maintain support structures such as poles, anchors, and braces
    • Regularly inspect aerial telecommunication infrastructure for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to cable or equipment malfunctions
    • Conduct necessary repairs or replacements to restore service functionality promptly
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations when working at heights, in proximity to electrical lines, as well as when performing operations on the ground
    • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow industry safety standards to prevent accidents and injuries
    • Conduct safety assessments of work sites and implement corrective measures as needed
    • Coordinate with other members of the telecommunication team to ensure seamless integration of aerial infrastructure with other network components
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines and specifications
    • Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities
    • Document equipment specifications, cable routes, and any changes made to the telecommunication infrastructure
    • Safely operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in aerial telecommunication work, such as bucket trucks, cable splicing tools, and testing devices
    • Demonstrate leadership qualities and provide guidance to other team members including directing job tasks and holding team members accountable for safety practices
    • Take ownership of additional job duties and projects as assigned by the Patriot management team

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to be self-directed and work independently
    • Knowledge of basic tools and OSP construction practice
    • Knowledge of fiber optic and coaxial cable types, make-ups, and manufacturer specifications
    • Knowledge of cable testing procedures and test equipment
    • Must pass and maintain a satisfactory criminal background history
    • Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure
    • Able to read fiber schematics along with HFC maps and design prints
    • High level of professionalism, including the ability to successfully navigate various personalities when working with customers, fellow employees, and the public
    • When business needs require, must have the ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and off hours


    Education and Experience:

    • 3 years of relevant job experience in a similar industry or job experience with similar essential duties
    • Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
    • Able to successfully pass pre-employment and random drug screenings and physicals as required for the role
    • Must be able to obtain and hold a DOT medical card
    • Education Level: High School/GED
