Adult Day Care Director creates and directs programs that address the health, psychosocial, and educational needs of older individuals and their caregivers and that provide clients a safe, secure, and positive daily experience. Responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of qualified staff. Being an Adult Day Care Director manages the financial operations for the center including billing, reimbursements, and budgets. Performs assessments of prospective clients to determine if programs will meet their needs. Additionally, Adult Day Care Director coordinates with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to plan clients program of care. Monitors programs to ensure effectiveness, quality care, compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and to identify areas for improvement or expanded program offerings. May be a RN with experience in gerontology. Requires a bachelor's degree of social science or a directly related field. Typically reports to top management. The Adult Day Care Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Adult Day Care Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Delivers purposeful age-appropriate activities and supports for participants.
Implements activities, using specified training techniques and interventions, related to, but not limited to, developing participant social interaction skills, personal hygiene training, motor skill coordination, and activities etc.
Provides participants with personal care/hygiene support as needed.
Provides direct training, supervision and support to participants during all activities when assigned staff is absent or need additional assistance.
Encourages, through coaching of staff and positive behavioral participant support the active and/or partial participation of the participants in all daily routines and activities.
Accompanies assigned participants on group activities/outings and provides transportation either in private vehicle or Agency vehicle when required.
Maintains inventory of equipment/supplies used and notifies supervisor when ordering is necessary.
Completes all documentation for assigned consumers in a timely manner.
Identifies program problem areas and recommends solutions to program Supervisor.
Completes all assigned tasks related to program objectives, as defined by Supervisor.
Attends all training sessions and staff meetings as may be required.
