    Summary:
    The Patient Access Specialist is a patient facing role that provides access to services in the hospital. This position is predominantly responsible for facilitating the flow of patient registration by gathering patient demographics and third-party information with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
    Your responsibilities will include efficiently processing patient registration, verifying patient information, processing payments, helping families accurately complete paperwork, and resolving any issues that arise. As a Patient Access Specialist, you are expected to timely completion, preparation, and deployment of legal, ethical, and compliance related documents that must be presented to patients during registration.

    In this role, you have a responsibility to maintain knowledge of HIPPA, Patient’s Rights and Responsibilities, HMO’s, PPO’s, Commercial Payors, and department/ system policies and procedures. A high-level of customer service experience is required to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, their families, and co-workers. The operational functioning in registration is 24/7 and a Patient Access Specialist must have the ability to work in a standing/walking environment while having integrity, compassion, friendly, flexible, detailed oriented, and qualified to handle the unexpected challenges that occur with sensitivity and diplomacy.
    WORK EXPERIENCE

    EDUCATION
    • High school diploma or equivalent Req
    • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Pref
    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
    • National Association of Healthcare Access Management CHAA Certification Pref
