Job Summary Job Description Director, Annuity Products Job Summary The Director of Annuity Products is part of the Accumulation and Retirement Income Product and Advanced Strategies team. The Product and Advanced Strategies team is comprised of subject matter experts in the areas of financial strategies, concepts, and products. This individual will be partner with leadership to create and support the Annuities Sales Strategy, consulting with Field Services on annuity insights. This role requires the individual to be the subject matter expert for annuity products and tools (Annuity MRI, variable, registered indexed linked, fixed indexed, and fixed). In this role, the individual works closely with marketing and sales leadership to develop sales ideas, marketing campaigns, and identify strategic opportunities with our core and strategic carrier partners. Additionally, the individual works closely with annuity wholesalers daily, to drive sales by deepening their understanding of our product shelf, the competitive landscape, and application of annuity products to financial strategies. They will be responsible for knowledge of regulatory changes which pertain specifically to annuities applications. In this role the individual may deliver presentations at a wide variety of industry and company events. The role requires excellent analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills along with the ability to lead and influence others without direct supervisory authority. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time for business reasons.] Maintain a robust understanding of relevant client, market, and competitive trends and their strategic implications for the annuity marketplace. Understand our annuity product shelf with a deep comprehension of core and strategic partner product offerings and their competitive position in the marketplace. This role is the subject matter expert for our annuity product shelf. Develop annuities and retirement income strategies which incorporate annuities to help financial professionals improve their clients’ retirement outcomes. Responsible for partnering with leadership on the development of annuity and retirement strategies to directly support the growth of the A&RI business. Collaborate with cross-functional team to develop marketing collateral and campaigns to drive annuity sales. Work closely with Sales leaders and annuity wholesalers to enhance their understanding of product features, how to position products to financial professionals, and how products can be applied to different financial strategies. Proactively stay up-to-date and communicate carrier, product, and marketplace changes to annuity wholesalers and financial professionals. Reviews applications and contracts and ensures that all transactions comply with state and federal regulations. Conduct routine analysis of in-force annuities and indexed performance reports. Cultivate and maintain relationships with carrier partners. Develop and maintain benchmarking data and reports for leadership. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the annuities, actuarial science and insurance business. Education and Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics and/or a related field. CLU, ChFC, CFP, FSA, FLMI, or similar designation preferred. FINRA Series 6 or 7, or ability to obtain within 90-days. State insurance license, or ability to obtain within 90-days. Ability to travel (approx. 20%). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess considerable knowledge of annuity trends and product design. Ability to independently develop new ideas and concepts that drive sales. Proven sales and consultation skillsets to help drive the growth of the A&RI business. Understands and can apply financial planning concepts. Experience working with third-party distribution. Ability to lead and influence without supervising authority. Ability to effectively convey complex concepts. Resourceful with strong problem-solving and research skills. Understanding of independent broker/dealer and RIA space. Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internal and external. Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating strategies, product and industry trends and insights. Experience working in cross-functional teams and partnering with functional partners and key stakeholders. Proficient using Microsoft Office.
