The Assistant Director of School Food Services will assist in overseeing all aspects of the district’s Child Nutrition Program operation in accordance with local, state and federal policies. The job functions include administrating, planning, implementing and evaluating the program in order to meet the nutritional and educational needs of children.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE:
- Associate degree, or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major or area of concentration in specified field and at least two years relevant school nutrition program experience.
- ServSafe Certification, current in Food Protection Manager
- Strong communicator in both verbal and written.
- Strong working knowledge of foodservice. Solid “hands on” approach.
- Ability to manage personnel with a flexibility to adapt.
- Working knowledge of financial objectives and budgeting. Able to read financial statements.
- Ability to perform job tasks that will include: all aspect of kitchen operations such as; cooking, operating POS, heavy Lifting (40-50lbs.), bending, reaching, standing, and being present in cold and hot environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Assistant Director will provide support to the Director of Food Services in the following areas:

Nutrition and Menu Planning
- Ensures all meals served in the program meet current nutritional standards and meal pattern requirements, including students with special need diets.
- Maintains nutritional integrity of the meal program through implementation of Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
- Maintains integrity and accountability of the meal program and recorded documentation through compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Sanitation, Safety and Security
- Provides an environment conducive to protecting the health and well-being of students and staff through high levels of sanitation standards.
- Responds to a food hold and recall in an expedient, effective, and efficient manner.
- Provides a safe environment for performance of work and a secure work environment during an emergency or crisis.
- Establishes administrative responsibility for all food service equipment through proper use and care.
- Understands and has working knowledge on how to use all equipment within all kitchens properly and provides training to Food Service Managers/workers on all equipment.
- Procurement
- Assists in the procurement process within the boundaries of federal, state and local school purchasing guidelines to protect the integrity of the meal program.
- Establishes proper ordering inventory on all items within the meal program.
- Understands case sizes and portion amounts when placing orders.
- Operates the meal program to ensure that proper receiving procedures and storage techniques are followed.
- Provides a system for preparing and maintaining records that reflects an accurate report of planned menus, food produced, and food discarded.
- Ensures the meal program creditability through daily monitoring of food production procedures.
- Maintains an operation that responds to students’ food preferences.
- Provides leadership to ensure school meals will be served in pleasant, clean facilities and by a courteous staff.

Terms of Employment: 205 work days per school year; salary and benefits to be established by the Director of Food Service in accordance with the approved budget of the Exeter Region Cooperative School District.
Salary Range: $36,200 - $41,500, based on work experience and knowledge.
