Administrative Services Director plans and directs the operations of an organization's staff and service functions. Oversees various internal service functions that typically include administrative/office, financial operations, facility maintenance/space planning, security, hospitality services, equipment and supply procurement, vendor management, and others. Being an Administrative Services Director monitors capital and operating budget spending. Designs and implements processes and policies that support efficient service delivery and meet the organization's changing needs. Additionally, Administrative Services Director sets departmental performance goals and standards of service. Utilizes data analytics to measure activity and drive continuous improvement. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Administrative Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Administrative Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Administrative Director exceeds expectations of customers; creates an extraordinary experience at MGH by greeting people warmly, sincerely, and with empathy.

    He/she supervises and coordinates the activities of the Operating Room, Endoscopy, Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Ambulatory Surgery Department, Peri-operative Clinic, Pre-Admission Testing Department, OR Supply Coordinators, Surgery Center and the Operating Room Central Sterile department 24/7.  He/she is responsible for ongoing development of department policies and procedures. Participates in the investigation and preparation of reports relative to the improvement of care and services, maintains regulatory standards, and maintains the Operating Room/Surgery Center inventories, safety training, and personnel performance. He/she ensures appropriate staffing levels to maintain quality patient care; and ensures the needs of patients are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner. He/she ensures compliance with policies and procedures; communicates at a high level with Administration, physicians, unit staff, and other MGH personnel to ensure best practice for our customers.  Ensures the department’s mission, vision, values, and strategic and quality plan reflects the organizations current and anticipated strategic priorities.

    Develop, trains, orients, coaches, and mentors employees and managers

    Establishes and monitors appropriate quality and other work standards

    Minimum Job Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with B.S.N. and a current Indiana Registered Nurse License. 
    • Minimum of five years experience in hospital or related setting, and minimum of two years of management.
    • Operating Room experience

    Preferred Job Requirements

    • M.S.N Degree preferred, will consider BS or MS in Management, or Administration.
    • Preferred certification in related field. 

    Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

    • Knowledge of healthcare policies, governmental regulations, and reimbursement practices pertinent to department.
    • Strong organizational, leadership and administrative skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
    • Computer skills including database, spread sheet, and word processing. 
    • Ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information.
    • Highly developed interpersonal skills in order to relate to all levels of employees and personality types, negotiate effective working relationships, and develop positive resolutions to conflict.

    Working Conditions

    • This position requires the employee to regularly be at risk for occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.

    Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment

    • This position requires a commitment of 24 hour accountability. 
    • Uses computers and other standard office equipment.
    • Operates patient care equipment typically found in nursing units or department of specialty.
